Assignments | Assignments in Brightspace

Following a course at WUR might require you to complete assignments as well. The Assignments tool enables you to submit assignments in Brightspace Learning Environment, eliminating the need to mail, fax, or email your work to lecturers. Simply upload your submission to the appropriate assignment and submit.

Assignments homepage

In your course in the green navigation bar navigate to the Assessment tab. When you click on it a drop-down menu rolls out; click the first option Assignments. This will land you on the Assignments homepage:

1. button View History

By clicking on this button it will open a new page where you can select by Assignment your submissions:

If an Assignment is a Turnitin assignment you can check the Similarity score this way (for more click here).

2. column Assignment

In this column, all the available Assignments are listed.

Group assignments become visible only if you are enrolled in a group (if your lecturer uses this type of assignment).

3. column Completion Status

In this column you can see your progress on the assignment:

  • Not complete - you did not start the assignment yet. You can click here to add your submission.
  • [#] Submission, [#] File(s) - you have submitted your work. The number of submissions means the number of times you submitted to the assignment (depends on how your lecturer set up the assignment). The number of files reflects the number of files you added to your submission.
4. column Score

The score of your assignment will be visible in this column after the lecturer publishes it.

5. column Evaluation Status

Information in this column becomes visible after your lecturer evaluates your submission. This can be grade only (score), written feedback only, or a combination of both. 

The status is clickable:

  • Feedback: Unread - you have feedback pending for you to view 
  • Feedback: Read - you have viewed your feedback. You can go back to the review whenever you want by clicking on the status.
6. column Due Date

This column indicates the date and time by which your submission on the assignment is due.

Assignment icons explained

In the column Assignments on the Assignments homepage, you will see a number of assignments made for you by your lecturer. Below you can find what the different links and icons mean:

1. Name of the assignment

You can find the assignment by the same name in the Assignment homepage and/or in the Content module.

If you click on the name of the assignment you will be able to add your submission.

2. Attached files

If an assignment has attachments as part of instructions, you will be able to see them in the Assignments homepage below the name of the assignment. You can click the attached file directly if you want to review it.

3. icon Group

If an assignment is a group assignment, this icon will be included next to the name of the assignment. This icon is only visible if you are looking at the assignment on the Assignments homepage.

4. icon Paper with binoculars

This icon indicates that an assignment is a Turnitin®  assignment. You will see this icon next to the name of the assignment only if you view the assignment on the Assignments homepage.
